A dream far from rap.
Travis Scott is known worldwide as one of the most influential artists in contemporary hip-hop. However, beyond music, the rapper maintains a clear goal, to study architecture and engineering.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Scott spoke about his interest in the subject. He did so while touring the Beverly Hills mansion of Oakley founder Jim Jannard. The property is valued at 65 million dollars. During the visit, the artist explained that his objective is not simply to obtain a degree, but to learn and understand how spaces are created.
“I want to go to school one day and study architecture and engineering,” he said. For him, many people imagine ideas in renders, but few manage to turn them into reality. That is why he believes practical learning is the most important part.
Scott also mentioned that he is interested in universities such as Berkeley and Harvard, both well known for their academic programmes. His attraction to architecture comes from his fascination with spaces and experiences. He enjoys places and objects that inspire, whether they are cars, furniture, clothing, music or design in general.
An interest that goes back years
This is not the first time the rapper has spoken about this topic. In 2023, during an interview with GQ, he said that he planned to study architecture after finishing his Circus Maximus tour. At the time, he stated that he hoped to get into Harvard and acknowledged that he would have to work hard to achieve it, without taking shortcuts.
Scott explained then that he has always been drawn to structural design and engineering. In particular, he is interested in how unconventional shapes can work in real life. He considers himself someone who enjoys solving problems and building things from a creative perspective.
The success of his world tour
The Circus Maximus tour took place between October 2023 and November 2025. In total, it included 85 concerts. The tour grossed 265 million dollars, making it the highest-grossing solo rap tour in history. It is also the second most successful rap tour overall, only behind Drake’s.
Despite his enormous commercial success, Travis Scott shows that his ambition goes beyond the stage. Architecture remains one of his main long-term personal goals.
