Following the release of the project’s lead single, “Rush”, Troye Sivan has just unveiled his new single.
The song, produced by Ian Kirkpatrick, incorporates a sample of the Australian duo Bag Raiders on their 2008 hit, “Shooting Stars”. It was composed by Sivan, in collaboration with Leland, Tayla Parx and Kaelyn Behr.
“When we were writing this song, I made a point of using “Shooting Stars” – I kept humming it in the studio. It’s a huge sample and it was a big request; and I knew they had never approved it in the past,” said Sivan. “So I’m thrilled at the opportunity to sample that song because it’s iconic to me.”
“And then we have Ian Kirkpatrick on the production, who is a genius. I love his work – he had the plan to record the vocal at a slower speed and then speed it up, and in the end that’s what you hear in the chorus. I instantly loved the way it sounded,” he added.
Troye revealed in a recent interview that “Got Me Started” was one of the first songs he wrote for “Something To Give Each Other”. To accompany the track, the singer has also released a music video set in a Bangkok club. For this production, he reunited with the “Rush” visual team, including director Gordon von Steiner, cinematographer Stuart Winecoff and choreographer Sergio Reis.
You can now watch the music video for Troye Sivan’s “Got Me Started” and listen to the song on all streaming platforms. The full album “Something To Give Each Other” will be available starting October 13.
