The album ‘Something to Give Each Other’ was described by the singer as a “celebration of sex, dancing, sweat, community, homosexuality, love and friendship”.
Sivan recounted that he had been inspired by the “feeling of kissing a sweaty stranger on a dance floor” for his single ‘Rush’. “A 2-hour date that turned into a weekend,” he continued, “a crush, a winter, a summer…. Party after party after party after party after party after party.”
The singer has once again opened up about his inspiration in a new interview, this time leaving subtleties aside. He talks about a sex-positive anecdote, “We were lying in bed and he was like, ‘This is one of life’s greatest pleasures, connecting with people like this.'” She continued, “Obviously the connection is fun. But he was like, ‘Even if I never see you again, we get to have this really special moment together.'”
