This has been confirmed by the Brazilian authorities.

More than two million souls vibrated in unison on Saturday 3 May at one of the most special places in Rio de Janeiro: Copacabana beach. And the person responsible for bringing together such a large crowd was none other than Lady Gaga. The queen of pop can boast of having beaten all records, surpassing Madonna, who in 2024 brought together 1.6 million people at her show held at the same place.
A night that has undoubtedly gone down in history. But as with any mass event, the terrorist alarms went off (and thank goodness). Two hours before the superstar was due to take the stage, Brazilian police arrested two people accused of planning an explosive attack on the concert.
According to the authorities, the defendants are part of a group that promotes hate speech against the LGBTQ+ community and allegedly tried to infiltrate fans by falsely calling themselves “Little Monsters”, the term by which Gaga affectionately refers to her fans.
The arrests were made as part of a larger operation, with raids in several Brazilian states. A number of phones, electronic devices and sensitive materials were seized, and one of those involved (the leader of the group) was arrested for illegal possession of weapons.
