Fashion’s foremost aesthetic explorer put together one of the best collections for the Maison to date and/or delivered one of the most acclaimed artistic interventions in Louis Vuitton‘s history.
In the role of ‘Flower Boy’, Tyler, The Creator created an exciting crop of garments and footwear in February that will be launched in sync with the fall of spring. The creative’s capsule, in which he instinctively infused his sophisticated preppy universe – linked to tennis and golf – with the elegance of Pharrell’s dandy clothing, will be released on 21 March.
His foray into the modern era of Louis Vuitton was also notable for his elevated footwear offering, which included a series of artworks or collector’s pieces wrapped in his iconic monogram in pastel shades.
The skate-inspired ‘Louis Vuitton Trainer’ trainers lead the selection, dressed in the collection’s Craggy monogram – the luxury house’s famous pattern hand-drawn by Tyler himself – which he also transferred to garments such as button-up jackets and puffers.
A sweetened handcrafted version of the LV design is combined with vanilla and chocolate brown tones on sophisticated leather uppers, while another colourway is introduced that mixes chocolate and vanilla tones with a side panel represented by the iconic Damier print. Finally, the silhouette is redesigned with LV motifs in tonal green with contrasting inscriptions and design elements in beige and pastel pink.
