Vault by Vans, a pioneer in creative expression, is proud to present its collaboration with Javier Calleja, a world-renowned artist from Malaga who brings to life his most iconic characters present in his paintings, sculptures and figures in a special collection of clothing and trainers.
Inspired by fashion and streetwear, the artist has used the silhouettes of the Vault by Vans OG line as a blank canvas for his work as a natural extension of his creative practice.
“For me, the best thing is to draw on paper,” says Javier Calleja. “With drawings, you can go to the end of the world and back in the same day. To be able to explore a new medium and bring it to life through my favourite Vans silhouettes is an honour.”
Using several of the Vault by Vans models as canvases, Calleja captures his well-known artwork on the OG Sk8-Hi; OG Chukka Boot; OG Authentic and OG Classic Slip-On. Each style features the Malaga-born artist’s signature big-eyed characters with added textual elements, bringing them into a new artistic sphere to exist and communicate with the world.
The Vault by Vans x Javier Calleja collection includes phrases such as ‘Change Your Way’ and ‘You Have No Choice’ with variations depending on the characters chosen for each piece. The clothing collection is made up of pieces such as a long-sleeved t-shirt and a hoodie; and is completed by accessories such as a tote bag; a bucket hat and socks. Some of them come to life through colours, while others have the combination of black and white as their flagship.
All the garments that make up the Vault by Vans x Javier Calleja collection will be available from 5 February in selected Vault by Vans shops.
