Tod’s has announced that Walter Chiapponi will leave the creative direction of the brand’s men’s and women’s collections (by mutual agreement).
Tod’s joins a number of luxury brands that are rethinking their creative teams, leading to a slew of departures such as that of creative director Walter Chiapponi. The Italian designer will present his final collection for the house during Milan Fashion Week in September, where he will showcase Spring/Summer 2024 for women. A new creative director has not yet been announced.
Since October 2019, Walter Chiapponi has been the creative director of Tod’s men’s and women’s collections. Season after season, Walter Chiapponi evolved Tod’s contemporary language of style and timeless elegance. With this development, the Italian who made his debut in the fashion world in the 1990s, brought the quality of Italian craftsmanship and lifestyle to the forefront while remaining true to his stylistic identity.
“We thank Walter for the path we have travelled together, for his creativity and the commitment we have shared together,” said Tod’s President and CEO Diego Della Valle. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank the people in the style office who work with great skill and commitment to the brand and the company, enabling us to achieve excellent results.”
“Starting from a truly special style team, who supported my vision for four years and who contributed to this beautiful journey with delicacy, attention, passion and trust,” said Chiapponi. “Above all, I thank Diego and Andrea Della Valle who believed in me. Thank you for the courage, humanity and freedom you have given me to express the best version of myself through Tod’s over these years.”
