The holiday season is just around the corner and Thom Browne is already getting into the festive spirit. The quintessential American designer has unveiled his Holiday 2024 collection in a campaign where his winter designs embark on a ride on the ‘Thom Browne Elevator Express’, a magical lift that takes us through a reinvented office full of surprises.
Browne’s brand is famous for its linguistic playfulness, and this year is no exception: the notes accompanying the collection read like lines from a poem, a kind of narrative laden with hidden meanings. In its characteristic style, the campaign has a literary and mysterious feel:
‘Oh, what a magical sight….
in the office tonight…
up, up and up we go…
exploring floor by floor…
Will we find a new surprise…?
behind every lift door…’
And behind those doors, as you might expect, are Browne’s most iconic pieces, replete with nods to his personal influences. These include the designer’s unmistakable animalistic touch: the bag charms, inspired by his dachshund Hector; the baguette bags, moulded in the shape of rabbits (who also appear alongside them); and the tie bars that pay homage to a varied fauna, with cuts that evoke whales, dogs, pigs and, of course, more bunnies.
The collection is also full of classics that evoke the holiday season, such as intarsia and Fair Isle jumpers, camel trench coats, sheepskin jackets and gloves with flared sleeves, as well as scarves and hats in soft ribbed cashmere. And for the more sybaritic, Browne has collaborated with the prestigious porcelain house Haviland to create an exclusive set of four ‘Tea Time’ bars, perfect for enjoying a hot drink by the fireside.
