Last month, we previewed what will be one of the most anticipated releases of the year with a first look at the new project that fuses the magic of The Wizard of Oz with the iconic Nike SB Dunk Low silhouette. In that initial preview, we were able to appreciate the upper of the shoe, inspired by the mystical poppy field of the classic tale, where soft and warm tones predominate, evoking the atmosphere of the original film. But what really caught the eye was a detail that anticipated the complexity of the design: a ruby layer, subtly hidden beneath the outer layers of the shoe, in a nod to Dorothy’s mysterious footwear, allowing her to return home.
Now, we’ve had the chance to see the shoe in action, on the street, as anticipation for its launch intensifies. As the date approaches, the colour scheme of this model stands out as one of its great attractions, not only for its originality, but also for the visual harmony that manages to capture the essence of the Wizard of Oz universe in a contemporary urban style piece. With gold, red and purple tones that evoke both the majesty of the Oz landscapes and the elegance of the magical shoes, the SB Dunk Low promises to be a must-have for collectors and sneaker culture lovers.
The design not only pays homage to a film classic, but also fits seamlessly into Nike SB’s tradition of continuing to push creative and daring collaborations. As expected, this pair won’t be for everyone, and its exclusivity will make its release one of the most anticipated of the season. It is expected to arrive in late 2024, available exclusively through Nike SNKRS and selected skate shops.
