Wolf & Power Bob cuts will be on trend this winter

Both the wolf cut and the power bob are enjoying a revival this autumn/winter season. The former is a shoulder-length cut with a very curved contour and almost always frayed ends, while the latter is a much more classic, straight bob, mid-length and without layers. Celebrities and artists such as Billie Eilish, Jennifer Lopez or Jenna Ortega have made the wolf cut popular throughout 2024 at various red carpets, galas and award shows. We are talking about a style that adapts to all face shapes, although it favours oval or elongated faces much more, as the fringe shortens the face.

On a round face, the fringe should perhaps be a little longer: ‘With a good mane and strong, slightly wavy hair, this cut is very easy to work with, on women with less dense hair it doesn’t look so good because of all the layers it requires. I advise to wear it a bit crazy, tousled, as the scaled haircuts look much better that way. Both the volume and the layers should be noticeable with the fringe well tucked in, and when drying it at home, always with the head down, using wax or mousse for more texture, something that can also be achieved in the salon by cutting it with a razor’ – says Rocío Lucas, head of hairdressing at Twenty NLB Retiro salon.

A haircut that requires a lot more care is the Power Bob, which will also be very fashionable this winter as it was last winter. It looks good on all types of faces and hair, but less so on curly hair, also because of excessive maintenance: ‘It’s quite comfortable to wear but if your face is too round, it’s probably not the cut for you. For a bit of styling, it’s better if you style it with a middle parting. Also, if you have a square jaw or an elongated face, the power bob helps to disguise these features, it’s easy to style and among the products I advise you to use would be a shine serum and a heat protector before straightening’ – Paul Tudor, director of the David Künzle Fuencarral salon, tells us.
