XXX’: Albany’s new album that will change everything

A year of digging, listening to new music and experimenting with all kinds of sounds has given birth to ‘XXX’, Albany’s new album.

Albany wanted to do something different. A year of investigating, listening to new music and experimenting with all kinds of sounds has given birth to this ‘XXX’; a work in which we can hear a new Alba, with a sound that feels super free and fluid, and with lyrics that, honestly, are some of the best we’ve heard.

An album full of adrenaline and strength, which comes less than a year after Albany‘s last mixtape ‘Se Trata de Mí’. A much more uptempo album, perfect for the club, with synthetic sounds, glitch, rage, trap, hyperpop… united in a cute world with thousands of references to Japanese culture. An album that will change everything.

“Y ahora ya me da igual porque no están en mi piel,

Pero vuelo tan alto que ahora estoy a otro nivel,

Bae yo sigo aquí aunque no puedas verme,

Se que no le importaba y que se fue con él,

Estoy brillando tan alto que no puedo caer.”

‘XXX’ opens with a trailer-like intro, where we can already start to see everything we’ll find in this work… It continues with the fun ‘Chobits’, with Rojuu and Clutchill, the perfect match of artists -that everyone was waiting for-. This infectious beat by Jambo and Dred Bey, who also sign the bases of ‘G’ and ‘Gyarados’ with Sticky M.A., a collaboration that Albany was really looking forward to. The interlude is crazy, a mix of everything that the artist likes: Pokemon, anime, Yung Beef… A good mix of Spanish-style sensations.

Throughout the album we can see two personalities: the intense and deep Albany and the playful and fun Albany. For example, in ‘Ice’, together with Bon Calso, a friend of Alba’s with whom they have already collaborated several times, we see the most powerful Albany, without fears, or in ‘S-Pain‘, with more raw truths -and sadness-, with which she has always conquered us.

The icing on the cake is ‘Me da igual tu dinero’, a very personal ending, in which many will recognise the singer as always. It was the first song recorded on the album, and the most emotional. Perfect to end with.

As for producers, we also find Harry Bass and Kashlo. Mixing and mastering the whole album was done by Dred Bey, and behind the spectacular album artwork, cover art and 3D visuals, we find Razorade.

“Me estoy volviendo loca, esa mierda está en mí,

Y ya no puedo esconderlo, me estás dejando crazy,

Yo ya no confío en nadie porque nadie puede confiar en mí,

Yo estaba sola en la calle pero la calle me hizo una G.”
