Apple’s glasses allow applications to be installed on its operating system from the iPhone and iPad shop, so it was initially understood that they would have the same possibilities as Apple’s phones and tablets. However, Google’s online video platform was one of the internet giants that had ruled out adapting its application to this product. Netflix and Spotify, for the first Vision Pro users, were obliged to consume their content via the Safari browser.
Or so The Verge‘s latest report, which states that they have received an email from YouTube spokesperson Jessica Gibby explaining that “we are excited to see Vision Pro launch and support it by ensuring that YouTube users have a great experience on Safari. We don’t have any specific plans to share at this time, but we can confirm that a Vision Pro app is on our roadmap”.
YouTube has not yet given a specific date for the launch of its version for this new operating system. YouTube has had 3D support since 2011 and 360 support since 2016, but this content does not work on Vision Pro. Apple spokesperson Jackie Roy said that such content on YouTube was designed for devices “that don’t offer a high-quality spatial experience”, implying that it did not fit with the experiences that Vision Pro is intended to offer.
