The family wardrobe concept.

Zegna’s Fall/Winter 2026 menswear collection, presented at Milan Fashion Week, offers a direct reflection on heritage and the longevity of clothing. Under the creative direction of Alessandro Sartori, the brand develops the concept of the family wardrobe: a wardrobe passed down over time that turns garments into objects with emotional value.

To reinforce this idea, the show took place in an oval space surrounded by pieces belonging to four generations of the Zegna family. Among them was the first jacket made by the founder in 1930. In this way, the staging underlined the collection’s central message. When design and materials are made to last, fashion stops being fleeting and becomes a legacy.

Creatively, Sartori revisits archival silhouettes through a contemporary lens. References to different decades emerge, from heavy checks to warm tones that recall the 1970s. At the same time, pleats inspired by traditional loden coats from northern Italy are introduced.

Classic tailoring is updated with practical details. Double-breasted suits feature reversible leather-covered buttons that allow for different fastening options. In addition, lightweight pocketless overshirts are designed for layering. Padded cashmere cardigans and suede jackets with high collars also appear. Taken together, the pieces achieve a clear balance between tradition and modernity.

Work on fabrics is one of the key pillars of the collection. Familiar textiles are transformed through innovation. Jacquards developed with recycled paper fibres, printed herringbone and cashmere shearling appear, bringing visual and tactile lightness. At the same time, Trofeo wool maintains the link to the house’s historical craftsmanship.

The colour palette moves between sage greens, mustard tones and deep browns. Subtle iridescent effects are added, giving depth without feeling excessive.

Ultimately, beyond trends, Zegna FW26 presents itself as a statement of continuity. The garments do not only respond to the present. They are also designed to accompany the passage of time.
