When Challengers was announced in 2023, it was also revealed that it would see a threesome between the three cast members, Zendaya, Mike Faist and Josh O’Connor. Well, the actress has revealed that it was quite a challenge and that it required the recently added intimacy coordinator, “We had an intimacy coordinator who was fantastic and very helpful, because it was important that we felt safe”.
The erotic and emotional tension between the characters is at the heart of the film. “We had to do it in one take. So it was like, ‘You have to say this line, the camera has to go here, and if we get it wrong, we have to start over.’ It’s very intentional and thought out with everyone’s help. It’s a whole team that makes this shot happen. We [the actors] are just a small part in the end.”
The actress also went in depth talking about the eroticism and sensuality of the play: “I talked to my co-stars so we could find a way to feel comfortable. We played tennis together, we went out together, we rehearsed together. We got to bond and feel good with each other”, confessed the Dune actress.
