To celebrate the 25th anniversary of one of Konami’s most iconic games, Dance Dance Revolution, Japanese company Zuiki has surprised fans with the launch of the “Dance Dance Dance Revolution Classic Mini”, a mini console that offers a unique gaming experience.
Instead of using the feet, as is traditionally done in Dance Dance Revolution, this mini version allows players to use their fingers to follow the beat and move to the music. The dance pad, which is normally on the floor, has been cleverly adapted to lay flat on a table or even in a person’s hand.
The start and menu navigation buttons are strategically located under the rear rails of the mini-console. Dance rounds can be enjoyed on the console’s built-in LCD screen or on a larger external display via an HDMI connection. Like the original game, the console emits flashes of light that match the music being played, adding a dynamic visual element to the experience.
In addition, for novice players, the Dance Dance Dance Revolution Classic Mini includes stickers with proper instructions, helping newcomers become familiar with the game.
The console is currently crowdfunding through the Kibidango platform, with a price tag of 43,780 yen, approximately €280. Donations can be made from October 10 until November 27 this year, and the consoles are expected to start shipping in the summer of 2024.
