These are the most iconic properties that have been available on the accommodation-sharing portal Airbnb.
Gwyneth Paltrow is one of the latest celebrities to rent out her (guest) house in Montecito, behind her mansion. The offer, which can be accessed through Airbnb, includes a dinner with the actress and her husband, TV writer Brad Falchuk. Likewise, Barbie House is also available on Airbnb following the box office success of the latest film starring Margot Robbie.
Gwyneth Paltrow’s home
Gwyneth Paltrow announced this week that she will open her one-bedroom Montecito (guest) house behind her mansion to visitors who wish to stay in it with an offer of a “fantastic, cosy dinner” and a bath with products from her lifestyle brand Goop, adding to a list of celebrity real estate deals that come with much more than just a place to sleep.
Coco Chanel’s hotel suite
A recreation of the famous fashion designer’s suite is available for rent at the Ritz in Paris, where she lived for 34 years from 1937. The 2,024-square-metre suite is on the first floor and is said to have better views of Paris than the original flat on the third floor. It sleeps three people, has a separate living area and dressing room, and rents for more than $23,000 (18,000 euros) a night.
Harry Potter’s childhood home
The English house used as the setting for Harry Potter’s childhood in the fictional Godric’s Hollow can be rented for $194/night on Airbnb. The accommodation has two four-bed rooms with private bathrooms, a wood-burning fireplace and a landscaped courtyard, and each stay includes a full English breakfast.
Julia Child’s French cottage
American celebrity chef Julia Child and her husband’s exquisitely manicured French cottage rents for $933 a night on Airbnb. The residence, called La Pitchoune at La Peetch, includes a swimming pool, wood-burning cooker and Child’s own custom-designed kitchen. It also has extra-high countertops to accommodate her height and original cooking utensils still hanging on the walls.
Barbie House
The house is located next to El Pescador State Beach on Malibu’s west side; homes in the area are estimated to be worth more than $5.2 million. The “Ken-themed” mansion on the beach is floor-to-ceiling pink and includes Barbie-inspired decor, an infinity pool and a wrap-around balcony, but it has no kitchen or washing machine and can only accommodate two guests, according to its Airbnb listing.
Agatha Christie’s holiday home
The majestic Georgian villa where writer Agatha Christie spent her summers and Christmases is available to rent from the non-profit National Trust in England. The house has a private courtyard and access to the gardens, where Christie used to play croquet and clock golf. The four-bedroom house sleeps eight people at a time and costs $1,819/two nights.
Sting’s summer residence
The Police frontman and his wife, Trudie Styler, own a 400-year-old residence in Italy which they use in the summer, but rent out to visitors the rest of the year. Vineyards, olive groves, recording studio, tennis court, concierge services, 865 acres and six guest houses are all part of the stay at the 6th century villa Il Palagio, which sleeps 28 people and starts at $180,000/seven nights.
The Bachelor Mansion
The seven-bedroom house – better known as The Mansion – can be rented for $30,000/night on Airbnb. The 10,000-square-foot Malibu home is where The Bachelor TV show is filmed and the contestants stay. The tour includes access to two hot tubs, a pool table and vineyard views.
Bilbo Baggins’ Inn
Teleport yourself to Middle-earth and get ready to enjoy a typical fairytale landscape while living as Bilbo Baggins. An immersive experience that will allow you to discover the original film set as well as all the locations where the saga was filmed: more than 1,000 hectares of fantasy. The 44 Hobbit Holes, The Millhouse and The Green Dragon Inn will be available to guests.
The House of Gucci
Its name is Villa Bilbaino and it is one of the most emblematic houses in Lake Como, Lombardy (Italy). Taking advantage of the launch of the film, the agency wanted to incorporate it into its real estate offer. This mansion will appeal to lovers of fashion and haute couture as well as history, as it is a 16th century building and was also the home of Cardinal Durini in the 18th century.
Tony Stark’s cabin
Iron Man and his family’s rural getaway in Avengers: Endgame can be rented in Georgia for $950/night on Airbnb. The ad, which doesn’t once mention the accommodation’s famous roots, is a thirty-minute drive from Atlanta and describes a three-bedroom cabin by a lake on a 2,000-acre equestrian estate.
Bella Swan’s house
It costs $414/night to stay in the house that Charlie and Bella Swan used as their Pacific Northwest home in the Twilight films. The five-bedroom house, which is listed on Airbnb, is in Saint Helens, Oregon, and offers views of the skyline.
Prince of Bel Air Mansion
Among the privileges of entering the mansion were enjoying basketball hoops in the bedroom with a new pair of Air Jordans; listening all night to the classics on the turntable as DJ Jazzy Jeff; wearing some of Will’s wardrobe; sunbathing by the luxurious pool; and being welcomed into the mansion (virtually) by DJ Jazzy Jeff.
Carrie Bradshaw’s flat
Airbnb is adding Carrie Bradshaw’s flat to its repertoire of accommodations so you can live your own Sex and the City in Manhattan. Included with the initiative is her haute couture wardrobe, and even a Cosmopolitan as Sarah Jessica Parker herself virtually greets you.
Claude Monet’s Blue House
This property is located in Normandy, 80 kilometres from Paris. It has room for eight people in its three bedrooms and was renovated in 2016. It also has a 1,500 square metre garden surrounding the house and its furnishings mix modern elements with older ones. The furniture and the collection of Japanese engravings are still there.
