65% of spanish people don’t know what Point A is or where it’s

Have you ever heard of the A-spot? 65% do not know where it is or how to stimulate it in a safe and pleasurable way, according to a study by LELO. In addition, 72.22% of Spaniards say that holidays increase their sexual desire, and 83.33% believe that the good weather has a positive influence on increasing their sexual desire, so there is no better motivation to learn something new.

We already know, the clitoris and the G-spot have long been the protagonists of conversations about sexual pleasure. The A-spot, however, promises to open new doors to pleasure. This area, located deep inside the vagina, between the cervix and the bladder, can be more difficult to reach with fingers because of its depth.

‘Point A, also known as the anterior fornix, is a region in the vagina located on the anterior vaginal wall, near the cervix. This point is less known than other erogenous points, such as the G-spot, due to limited research and dissemination in medical and popular literature,’ explains Barbara Fernandez, a gynaecologist working with LELO.

A study published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine describes the A-spot as ‘a region that can increase vaginal lubrication and sensitivity, thereby enhancing the sexual experience and facilitating orgasm in some women’. The study states that women who experience orgasm through Point A stimulation report intense and deep sensations (Chua et al., 2007).

How to stimulate it internally?

Although 74.50% of respondents prefer external stimulation, we also note that 36.61% of respondents believe that the main cause of not reaching orgasm with penetration is poor knowledge of internal pleasure points and 24.22% attribute it to poor sexual communication. Perhaps it’s not that we prefer external stimulation, but that we simply don’t know enough about internal stimulation and how to feel pleasure this way.

Valerie Tasso explains: ‘What induces orgasm in a woman’s genital area is always the clitoris, and the quickest, easiest way to learn and interpret this is through its external visible part. The sensations experienced if stimulated internally, for example at the ‘G-spot’, can be unpleasant for some women (for example, having the feeling that the urge to urinate is triggered because the bladder is pressed).’

This is why toys can facilitate the exploration and stimulation of this area. LELO has launched ENIGMA™ Double Sonic which stimulates a wider erogenous area, covering a larger surface of the spot. ENIGMA™ Double Sonic features the new DeepSonic™ technology, offering sonic wave stimulation on the clitoris as well as vibrating sensations on the G-spot. You’re probably thinking, now I’m going to feel a totally different orgasm, but….

Are orgasms different depending on which pleasure point is being stimulated?

Dr. Bárbara Fernández replies: ‘Not at all, an orgasm is a reflex that is reached by different routes. In fact, there are many women who report orgasms in their sleep, without any erogenous stimulation involved’. Opinions differ, with some claiming that orgasms from the A-spot, clitoris and G-spot can be differentiated in terms of sensations and physical response. A study published in Clinical Anatomy suggests that ‘clitoral orgasms tend to be more shallow and sharp, while G-spot and A-spot orgasms can be deeper and more intense, involving more prolonged pelvic muscle contractions’ (Levin, 2011).
