Kim Jones takes over the artistic direction of Fendi’s women’s collection. She will work with Silvia Venturini Fendi, the third generation of the Italian firm. The granddaughter of Adele Casagrande and Eduardo Fendi will continue to lead the brand’s men’s fashion collections.
The British designer will follow in the footsteps of the great Karl Lagerfeld, who died in February last year and was creative director of Chanel and Fendi. Kim Jones will be creative director of Dior y Fendi, both belonging to the LVMH group. The same strategy followed by his predecessor.
The designer is expected to add to the Italian firm the contemporary and current point that characterizes its designs, respecting the essence of the brand. To prove it, we’ll have to wait until February 2021, when Jones will present his first autumn/winter women’s fashion collection for Fendi during Milan fashion week.
“Joining Fendi and being able to keep my job as a designer for Dior is a real privilege” – Kim Jones
Bernard Arnault, President of LVMH, commented that Kim Jones is a great talent. Since joining Dior, she has demonstrated her ability to adapt to the codes and heritage of the houses that make up the LVMH group, with her modern and contemporary touch. “I am convinced that his vision and passion will contribute to the success of the women’s collections.”
