Kim Jones and Nike are teaming up for the exclusive launch of a new pair of Air Max 95’s. “Total Orange” is the result of this exuberant collaboration full of avant-garde symbolism. The Morse code details on the side and other decorations made from unique materials stand out.
Moving away from the classic shapes of haute couture, Kim Jones partners with Nike to launch a new iteration of the Air Max 95. The result is a pair of sneakers that present the personality of the creative in its most sporty version. The British designer has once again demonstrated his sensitivity to streetwear, a trend that he has transferred to his work as creative director of Dior. Remember Jones’ work on the Dior x Air Jordan 1 “Air Dior” collection earlier this year.
The panels inspired by the human anatomy on the top are presented in gray and are equipped with a series of black dots and stripes reminiscent of Morse code. In contrast, they have chosen the color white for the front and back. The toe is adorned with a small Swoosh, while the heel has the name of Jones. In addition, and respecting the classic style, they have placed another Swoosh on the heel of the silhouette.
The composition of orange tones accentuated with reflective silver touches is striking. The classic Air Max 95 mesh that covers the toe and lower half of the body has been replaced with a smoky black rubber or TPE panel.
Rumor has it that Kim Jones x Nike Air MAx 95 “Total Orange” will arrive in 2021. However, Nike has not yet confirmed dates and price.
