If you’ve ever wondered what Contemporary Romanticism would look like, Marni gives you the answer in its Fall21. Francesco Risso shows his new collection in a presentation of three episodes: breakfast, lunch and dinner. In them, romanticism and surrealism merge to take us to a modern fantasy.
Presented through a film directed by Wu Tsang and Tosh Basco, the three-part collection has a lot of everyday and domestic vibe. Risso opens the doors of his impressive apartment in Milan to everyday scenes lived by particular characters. On stage, artists giving live performances and models improvising fashion shows play with everyday objects.
Using vibrant colors as we are used to from the Italian house, but also daring with monochrome, all the pieces of Marni Fall21 make a nod to a greater or lesser extent to Risso’s modern romanticism. Volumes and exaggerated constructions in coats and accessories, zippers, ruffles, and even corseted silhouettes are Marni’s essentials for the coming Fall. A pointy-toed sneaker, voluminous puffers and a red maxi bag were the real stars of the collection.
Marni’s new release only confirms the aesthetics and vision of its creative director Francesco Risso. An aesthetic that is characterized by an experimental approach to materials and bright colors, as well as a unique ability to combine prints and shapes.
