New Balance’s classic BB480 model, which debuted in 1983, is back with Junya Watanabe. In September, the two companies collaborated to redesign a skate shoe silhouette, and now they’ve surprised us again.
Junya Watanabe’s eYe label joins forces with New Balance in a collaboration that elevates the BB480. The shoe was first released in 1983, now the BB480 is making a comeback thanks to the Japanese fashion designer. The silhouette maintains the essence of the classic model with a lifestyle feel, very similar to the 550 shoe in 2020 by Aimé Leon Dore.
Watanabe always follows a minimalist line in his collaborations, maintaining the characteristic details of the original models. The sneakers combine black and white on the sole and toe and the “N” of New Balance. It is on the inside of the shoe and on the heel that “eYe” appears and evidences the collaboration.
New Balance’s new collaborative BB480 model is available at selected designer and COMME des GARÇONS shops in Japan on March 19. Hopefully it will soon be available in the rest of the world.
