Vevers is doing great! That’s the first thing that came to mind when we saw Stuart’s complete autumn/winter 22 collection and show for the American brand, Coach.
Set in an imaginary neighbourhood, broadcast live from Basketball City in New York’s Lower East Side, with a soundtrack that mixed the 70s and 90s (the decades that inspired the designer) and under the watchful eye from the front row of rapper Megan Thee Stallion and actor Anglus Cloud, among many others, Coach’s first head designer needed nothing more than the looks he designed to capture the attention of those present.
And, if the other day we catalogued Maryam Nassir Zadeh’s collection as one of the most interesting of the last edition of New York Fashion Week (NYFW), this one is not far behind, as the Briton has surprised once again. All the brands that fall into the hands of S.V. end up becoming some of the most desired, as happened in his day with Loewe.
On this occasion, Vevers presented his vision of American heritage in a collection of more than 40 looks, in which the models who walked the long catwalk exemplarily represented different scenes from everyday life. The collection was clearly divided into two parts: romantic and grunge. In the first, Stuart successfully captured his vision of 70s romanticism in a series of dresses, in the purest “good girl” style, while in the second, our favourite, the “grunge” of the 90s was also clearly palpable, As we can see in dozens of looks in which XL coats with sheepskin inside, the “genderless” style, breaking barriers in the male wardrobe and combining vintage-inspired XL T-shirts with skirts, the “total look” in leather and chokers in the latter material, caught the eye.
If we had to choose one garment, it would undoubtedly be the graffiti-style coat that closed the show, customised by the artists Mint&Serf.
Cool the Coach autumn/winter 22 collection, isn’t it? Check out the gallery and the video of the show if you haven’t had time to watch it yet.
