Late last month, just days after the war began, the Ukrainian government started taking donations in cryptocurrencies, accepting everything from Bitcoin and Ethereum to Dogecoin. With the results, they are now launching their own NFT collection titled “Meta History: Museum of War” to fund the military forces.
The “Meta History: Museum of War” collection is a series of digital images – including silhouettes of warplanes, screenshots of news reports and even a cartoon-style image of an explosion – each marking a different day in the conflict. What would be a timeline of the invasion through 54 digital images.
According to the museum’s official website, the aim of the collection is to “preserve the memory of the real events of that time, disseminate accurate information to the world’s digital community and raise donations for the support of Ukraine”. The NFTs are accompanied by personal reflections. Each token includes a news story and an illustration by a Ukrainian or international artist.
Ukrainian NFTs will initially cost 0.15 ether, or just over $475, and the funds will go directly to digital cryptocurrencies in Kiev, according to the website.
