New York Fashion Week has kicked off and one of our favourite local brands has already presented its proposal for the next SS19 season: VFILES.
As usual, its presentation was not limited to being a show but ended up in an authentic spectacle. VFILES, which promotes new talent and does not opt for a single direction, opted for the minimalist vision of Parsons’ student: Elena Vélez (@elena__velez). In her proposal, the cream-colored jackets and dresses with fabric joined by thin metal strips offered a unique vision of deconstruction.
She was joined, in contrast, Sensen Lii (@sensenlii)- from Antwerp – who opted for explosive drama through psychedelic masks, neon colours and a crazy sensibility.
It is clear that the versatility of many garments may be debatable, but not all were museum pieces. Chinese design duo Wei Wang and Tim Shi from Marrknull (@marrknull_studio) provided the perfect mix of sportswear, down jackets, high waist jeans and unique accessories.
VFILES SS19 > Ready To Wear
Finally, the new line of VFILES – Yellow Label – was presented. It was directed by a former student of Hood By Air, Paul Cupo. In his first collection for the brand, Cupo kept things sexy and eye-catching although he balanced them with a certain simplicity. With the closing of the parade came a last surprise…
Lil’ Kim (@lilkimthequeenbee) appeared with a yellow minidress and bright heels to put an end to another ode to the new talent promoted by one of the most important fashion stores/projects: VFILES (@vfiles).
