From now on, people living in different households will not be able to share the same Netflix account unless they pay a monthly supplement to their usual fee. This means that the act of sharing your account password as a token of love is over.
We have been seeing announcements and confirmations of the end of shared accounts on streaming platforms for some time now. First they confirmed the arrival of this limitation for 2023, then we saw this change applied to their conditions, and although ultimately they seemed to have recalculated slightly, the limitation is already here. And Spain is among the first territories to impose a stricter ban on shared accounts.
Netflix is going to ask you to choose a home as your main location and the IP address will be decisive. It will be the connection from a different IP address that will be used by the platform to determine that the person has connected away from home. In that case, what if I use my mobile or laptop from outside the home? Netflix says that we will be able to connect without any problems, using mobile data or even Wi-Fi, but only on an ad hoc basis.
The possibility of adding users to Netflix to use our account outside the home is priced at 5.99 euros, but it is only possible on the two higher plans. For this purpose, profile transfers were enabled a few months ago. These extra profiles are only available for the standard and premium plans. If you have the basic plan with ads or the normal basic plan, you will not be able to add users. Why did Netflix make this decision? We tell you here.
