Contemporary artist Daniel Arsham creates together with Porsche the NEBULA 928 concept, a playful statement of retro-futurism.
This new project is an iteration of a 1978 Porsche 928 inspired by the Y2K aesthetics, and is a step into the future of automotive design. The NEBULA 928 blends past, present and future.
The vintage Porsche model takes on a futuristic identity in this project by the designer, who softens the edges of the car to modernize it. The car is covered in an exterior metallic paint in Y2K purple, and reveals a complementary matching tone in its interior. The aluminum steering wheel and shifter knob are combined with custom ByBorre woven fabric and Ultrasuede® and purple-tone leather.
The rear and front bumpers have been redesigned in conjunction with vehicle designer Khyzyl Saleem. In addition, the rear includes a glowing LED branding with the text “Nebula” written in a futuristic typography.
This project will be exhibited in the Porsche X space at South x Southwest (SXSW) 2023, which will take place March 10-14.
