Nadya Tolokonnikova, founder of the Russian punk band Pussy Riot, appears on a list of Russia’s most wanted criminal suspects.
The authorities claim that Tolokonnikova has violated the Russian Criminal Code and has “insulted the beliefs” of third parties with her activities and actions. This could refer to the latest images uploaded by Nadya on social media. One of these released as NFT called Virgin Mary, Please Become a Feminist. The image shows the religious figure in such a way that her silhouette refers to female genitalia.
Nadya also posted an artwork on social media called Putin’s Ashes. The piece, which was originally made in the summer of 2022, shows protesters stabbing the ground where they dropped the ashes of a painting of the Russian president. The artist has stated: “I have been imprisoned for years, my family and friends threatened, arrested, poisoned and killed, but I will not stop telling the truth.
