NIGO and Nike could meet in the first stage of a collaboration that will arrive in 2024.
According to industry insiders, the Japanese designer who founded Bape and Human Made and current artistic director of KENZO, has signed a deal with Nike to launch a sneaker. So far, neither NIGO nor the iconic brand has publicly confirmed it.
In an Instagram post by VERDY, the creative can be seen wearing Nike’s Go FlyEase sneakers, which at this point seems more than a coincidence.
The NIGO and Nike sneaker would not be released before 2024. At the same time that the two are preparing this collaboration, Nike is facing legal proceedings against NIGO’s former brand, Bape, for its Bape Sta sneakers and its alleged plagiarism of the mythical Air Force 1 design. In addition, the creative will not be extending its contract with Adidas, with whom it has had a relationship for several years.
