Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY SS24 both pays homage to and questions what has been defining the United Kingdom recently: the coronation of the King, the death of the Queen, unity in the face of disparity and distance, cultural clashes and class struggle.
Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY presented his Spring/Summer 2024 fashion show in Milan in a white-walled warehouse, avoiding overly ornamental elements or theatrical performances to put the main focus on fashion.
The Scottish designer christened his SS24 runway show “These New Caroleans”, talking about new and old eras in the UK. According to the brand, “These New Caroleans is a manifesto, a sartorial statement of intent. It’s an upside-down coronation, where everyone can wear the crown. This season, Charles Jeffrey wipes the slate clean with a message of hope.”
Among the more traditional elements of the collection are plaid skirts, jackets with extended collars in the manner of doilies and touches of tartan, as well as armor and knightly accessories that decorate dresses inspired by the 1660s. The designer maintains his signature camp and casual style: sportswear is paired with monster claw shoes, and blue sequined pleated plaid skirts are paired with Umbro footwear.
On the other hand, Prada explores liberated masculinity in its new SS24 collection.
