Before Ye’s entrance, Travis addressed the audience: “There is no UTOPIA without Kanye West. There is no Travis Scott without Kanye West. There is no Rome without Kanye West. Make noise for Ye.”
The artist deviated from the planned set list and surprised everyone by inviting Ye to join him on stage. Together, they performed “Praise God” and “Can’t Tell Me Nothing,” two tracks from Kanye West’s DONDA album.
The Rome concert followed the cancellation of Travis Scott’s originally scheduled concert at the Pyramids of Giza due to production complications.
Ye’s appearance on stage marked his first public act after generating controversy with his statements and actions. During his runway show at Paris Fashion Week for YZY season 9, he wore a T-shirt with the slogan “White Lives Matter” and subsequently made anti-Semitic and hate-laden comments on Twitter. This led to the severing of business relationships with several partners and industry figures, including adidas, Balenciaga, Vogue, Anna Wintour, Chase Bank and more.
Travis Scott has also faced public controversies. At his annual Astroworld festival in Houston in 2021, a tragedy occurred in which ten fans died due to safety issues in the crowd. This led to more than 500 lawsuits against Scott and the event organizers. It was later announced that Scott would not face criminal charges for his involvement in the incident.
In other news, the fight between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg will be streamed live on X.
