Designed by Pacific and based on the recent exhibition at the Baltimore Museum of Art and the Saint Louis Art Museum, The Culture: Hip Hop and Contemporary Art in the 21st Century chronicles the impact of hip hop on art today.
If you missed the joint exhibition on the cultural impact of hip hop at The Baltimore Museum of Art and the Saint Louis Art Museum, creative studio Pacific has captured the experience in a book featuring more than 100 artists and brands that brought the show to life.
Titled “The Culture: Hip Hop and Contemporary Art in the 21st Century,” the issue features an in-depth look at 50 years of hip hop’s global influence, divided into six themes: language, branding, adornment, tribute, rise and pose. Highlights of the show include a focus on Virgil Abloh‘s enduring legacy at Louis Vuitton, paintings by Joyce J. Scott and Tschabalala Self, as well as texts and interviews from a variety of artists and writers, including author Todd Boyd (Notorious Ph.D.).
Published by Gregory R. Miller & Co, this hardcover book features 306 pages and has a foil-stamped spine finish. Interested collectors can purchase a copy online and at select bookstores for $55 USD.
