Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons’ proposal, presented during yesterday’s Milan Fashion Week, is made up of 47 looks, special reinterpretations of bags and a fun selection of shoes and accessories.
The Fondazione Prada was once again covered in slime this season for the fashion house’s SS24 show. A unique event that neither Rosalía, Kylie Jenner nor Hunter Schafer wanted to miss, and which they were able to enjoy in an impressive front row. To the rhythm of Bernard Herrmann‘s prelude (the very soundtrack to Alfred Hitchcock‘s ‘Vertigo’), the looks began to follow one after the other, keeping alive the creative duo‘s intention of formalising everyday wear.
Oversized silhouettes that stylise the figure with exaggerated shoulder pads and cinched waists, delicate organza dresses that move in the wind simulating an almost dreamlike effect, festive skirts with metallic fringes and leather outfits adorned with studs and shiny details. The footwear proposal stood out for its boldness in fluorine colours and satin materials, while the accessories for the head and sunglasses finished off the outfits.
This season pays homage to the handbag originally designed in 1913 by Mario Prada through an exclusive reinterpretation in nappa leather and re-nylon. It is an evening bag with a frame closure and hand-carved mythological figure that reflects contemporary enthusiasm for the historical oriental aesthetics and styles that influenced the decorative arts in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
