These are some of the beer music experiences that SON Estrella Galicia has unveiled so far for 2024, the year in which they celebrate their 15th anniversary.

For almost 15 years, SON Estrella Galicia has been promoting unique musical events in the best venues and halls nationally and internationally for all those who love music and beer. Now that the year is coming to an end, we take a look at some of the musical, gastronomic and beer events that SON Estrella Galicia has prepared for 2024. This is just a preview, but everything indicates that next year will be full of different experiences and artists outside the mainstream circuits.

Chico Blanco, NUDOZURDO,BDRMM, Gallus, Queralt Lahoz, Eli Paperboy Reed, Steph Strings and Robert Forster are among the gems that can be enjoyed live in different Spanish venues and in Oporto thanks to SON Estrella Galicia throughout 2024. A daring programme that can still be expanded with new proposals and that travels from bedroom pop, indie, rock, punk, electronica and much more. This 2024 SON Estrella Galicia dares to do it all.

Chico Blanco

Chico Blanco is probably one of the most influential artists of the latest generation of national talent that fuses dance music with the predominant styles of pop. He has also contributed to enriching the music scene as a DJ and producer from MAREO, the collective from where they give visibility to the new and exciting wave of national electronic artists.

On this occasion, this unclassifiable artist of infinite versatility presents “Forever 21”, a double EP with infinite nuances where the artist from Granada continues to expand his palette of sounds, from songs full of nostalgia that remind us of the Chico Blanco of always to his most clubby and experimental tracks, thus showing a new side as a producer and composer.

NUDOZURDO

One of the most beloved bands of the independent scene in our country returns to the activity in an unexpected way. The band NUDOZUERDO began its career in 2002 and went through many changes in its line-up, always with Leopoldo Mateos at the head, and in its structure, until they left in 2018. In other words, we have them back five years after their separation.

After their comeback tour we will be able to enjoy their songs from albums such as “Nudozurdo” (02), “Sintética” (08), “Tara Motor Hembra” (11), “Ultrapresión” (12), “Rojo es peligro” (15) and “Voyeur Amateur” (17). In addition, they are now developing two projects in one as a continuation of “Sintética”, consolidating themselves as one of the best live acts in the independent music scene.

BDRMM + Special Guest

From the UK come Bdrmn, a band with nods to The Cure, Deerhunter and Radiohead. ‘Bedroom’ became one of the underground hits of the confinement, according to The Guardian, with rave reviews everywhere from blogs to broadsheet newspapers. They have also entered the official UK charts on three separate occasions, finishing in Rough Trade’s top 10 albums.

This band plays shoegaze. They are named after the word “bedroom”, because it started as a bedroom project. The band currently consists of four members, Ryan Smith (vocals, guitar, synth), Jordan Smith (vocals, bass, synth), Joe Vickers (guitar, bass) and Conor Murray (drums). The band has so far released two studio albums, Bedroom (2020) and I Don’t Know (2023).

Lewis OfMan

Lewis OfMan is a French electro pop music producer. His songs are a mix between electronic funk and bedroom pop, also integrating lo-fi elements. Lewis OfMan’s musical approach has captivated thousands of listeners from all over the world thanks to his slightly melancholic synth-pop and luminous collaborations.

French pop prodigy Lewis OfMan releases “Frisco Blues”, the follow-up to “Highway” (ft. Empress Of), released last summer, and a new preview of his upcoming album (2024). With an acoustic guitar and a joyful children’s choir sampled from a record Lewis found in New York, the track further confirms the new direction: acoustic, organic, spontaneous and dreamy.

Gallus

Gallus is a punk and indie rock band from Glasgow noted for their energetic live shows. Since their formation in 2017, they have gained a passionate following in the Scottish punk scene. Their name comes from the pub where they met and reflects their carefree attitude. Gallus is about self-deprecation and living catharsis, aiming to share their spirit and energy across the world.

Crowned Best Rock/Alternative at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards 2022, GALLUS embody youthful anticipation and energetic Indie-punk. They combine the vitality of the sports team, the wit of Yard Act and the introspection akin to Fontaines D.C. Their debut album, “We Don’t Like The People We Become”, explores the anxieties of growing up in a post-crisis world with humour and energy.

Queralt Lahoz

Between flamenco, soul, hip hop and dancehall, Queralt Lahoz’s sound starts from an urban base, from which she combines the aforementioned musical genres with touches of coplas and boleros, in keeping with her flamenco and Granada origins. From her native Santa Coloma, the Catalan artist claims to draw inspiration from the working women in her family and life, with the aim of, in yet another contrast, connecting past and present (and even future) through her music.

Eight months after releasing her acclaimed EP Alto cielo, and as the culmination of the year in which she became a star, Queralt announces the Todo se puso azul tour, which will take her in an intimate format of voice and guitar to nine cities in our country between February and April. The new live format, premiered for the first time at the BIME festival in Bilbao, will show the roots and the heart of her songs: the most intimate and true side of Queralt Lahoz.

Eli Paperboy Reed

In 2004, Eli “Paperboy” Reed and two friends went into a basement studio in Boston, Massachusetts with a plan: to record the combination of Downhome Blues, R&B and Soul that they had been rehearsing and playing in clubs around town for so long. On that day, Eli and his crew ended up recording no less than 17 songs, live, on an eight-track in glorious mono.

Today, 10 years later, things have changed. Reed is now a star on the Soul circuit, with three more albums, many singles and hundreds of concerts around the world under his belt. In 2023 he has released “Hits And Misses: The Singles”, the album includes songs that have been part of various singles, but not of his albums. Among these songs we will find some of his own, but also covers.

She is an Australian singer-songwriter and guitarist who lives in San Remo (Italy) and has won over audiences with her unique style and her friendliness. With influences from John Butler Trio, Tash Sultana and Ziggy Alberts, Steph plays several instruments and combines percussion, acoustic guitar, violin and loops, creating enveloping atmospheres and infectious rhythms.

Steph’s musical style involves bursts of percussion along with Celtic, blues and coastal indie-rock. The artist uses music to tell stories and expand her world beyond borders. Aside from her voice and combination of styles one of the most distinctive features of her music is her personal acoustic guitar playing.

Robert Forster is an Australian singer and songwriter best known for being one of the founders of the influential alternative rock band “The Go-Betweens”, later joined by Lindy Morrison on drums and backing vocals. His music is characterised by poetic lyrics and sophisticated melodies that have influenced indie music.

There is no doubt that Robert Forster has released one of the most emotive albums of 2023. His ‘The Candle and the Flame’ is a good example of how to overcome life’s adversities by doing what you love most: songs. A work that was born as a result of the cancer treatment that his wife has had to overcome. And with her and his two children, he has created a collection of songs.
