Born and raised in Barcelona with Japanese and Spanish roots, DJ Nagui Yamamoto better known as NAGUIYAMI has a strong connection to her father’s Japanese culture, which we can see in her first mix called ‘asekaki odori’, a term she invented translating as ‘the dance of sweat’. As we can understand from the name of her latest mix, one of her main driving forces as a DJ is to get everyone dancing, sweating and enjoying her sets. He is currently working on monthly releases, exploring new sounds and creating his own edits.
At only 26 years old, he has performed at Primavera Sound, Apolo, Nitsa, Fuego Razzmatazz, Boiler Room, Rototom, Pacha Ibiza, Antidoto, Voodoo Club, Native Soundsystem (London), Dengo Club (Lisbon), La Discoteca, Kanaal40 (Amsterdam), Gonzo (Zurich) and for brands such as Adidas, Nike, Netflix, Loewe, Mugler, H&M, Raya, Bimba&Lola, Bershka, Colors Studios, among others. He has shared the stage with artists such as Shygirl, Lil Tecca, Sho Madjozi, Audiocomingsoon, Vivendii Sound, Moonshine, DJ Playero, Mr Eazi, Abhir Hathi, Israel B and many more.
Nagui mixes sounds that include Afro-house, Gqom, Kuduro, Amapiano, Funk Carioca, Baile Funk, Dembow, among others. About her 10 tracks she has stated: ‘I had a hard time choosing which side to show but I’ve leaned towards my “at home” side, music that I put on to be calm, picking up, talking to people, being on the phone… It’s true that I listen to various genres and it’s according to my mood that I change, but creating this playlist is how I feel at the moment. Quiet, on my sofa, having dinner…”.
