Los Sufridos is one of the most interesting projects on the Latin American scene in recent years. A mysterious collective of producers and artists from the Dominican Republic who have opted to stay in the background and let the music do the talking. Specifically their own interpretation of the most urban and street bachata, where there is room for the most honest storytelling and the classic heartbreak hits of a now universal genre.
The Dominican collective has released songs such as ‘No lo vi a ninguno’, ‘Lleno Contigo’ or ‘Duro de verdad’ that revamp bachata to connect it with the most avant-garde codes of today’s music. That’s why an international star like Bad Gyal fell in love with ‘Duro de verdad’ on her last visit to the Dominican Republic and was quick to sign a remix with Los Sufridos that gives a new dimension to a song that was born to be a hit.
This remix of ‘Duro de Verdad’ maintains the essence of the original: a perfect production of wild bachata on which Los Sufridos invite Bad Gyal to realise that she hasn’t wasted time, that she has gained time to do things she stopped doing to be with you (‘pa tu infierno fui demasiado demonia / no fue como te imaginaste: no me ha ido tan mal’) and to go out into the street to make up for lost time. It’s the positive side of a break-up, where you feel that it’s not over because of you, and you’re not going to let it sour your life.
Something you don’t have to insist on too much. The music video for the track, which captures a night out in the Dominican Republic, co-stars Bad Gyal and a luxury ambassador in the Dominican Republic: Tokischa, with whom she already collaborated on ‘Chulo Pt.2’.
