The queen of R&B is about to make history this Christmas. Beyoncé has been announced as the halftime performer for the highly anticipated NFL Christmas Day Game, where the Baltimore Ravens will take on the Houston Texans on Wednesday 25 December. The event, streamed live on Netflix, will be the second Christmas Day game, and promises to be a perfect blend of football and entertainment.
Netflix, which has begun experimenting with live games, is putting an unexpected twist on the Christmas tradition by bringing NFL games directly to your screen. In addition to the Ravens-Texans showdown, it will also stream another big Christmas showdown: the Kansas City Chiefs (Super Bowl LVII champions) will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Christmas will be even more special for Beyoncé, who returns to her hometown of Houston for the event. Her halftime show will be her first onstage appearance since her album Cowboy Carter, which is taking the game by storm. And of course, Beyoncé is no stranger to NFL stages: after her epic performance at Super Bowl XLVII in 2013, and her halftime show appearance alongside Coldplay and Bruno Mars in 2016, expect something even grander this time around.
While details of her performance are still under wraps, there is no doubt that Beyoncé will prepare something unique for the occasion, fusing football, Christmas and her signature style. The production will be handled by Parkwood Entertainment and Jesse Collins Entertainment, guaranteeing a world-class show.
