A work of art in book form that brings together two creative geniuses in a visual conversation.
Designed by Yohji Yamamoto himself and photographer Sarah Moon, the publication has been over 30 years in the making. It is presented with a minimalist black cover that conceals inside an explosion of creativity. A total of 45 photographs, most of them unpublished, capture the essence of a collaboration that has marked a before and after in the history of fashion.
In Moon‘s universe, the woman is always the protagonist, and it is through Yamamoto‘s designs that the character is brought to life, moulded and reinvented. Since the late 1990s, she has been in charge of immortalising the essence of the Japanese designer‘s collections, always fascinated by his radical approach and his ability to transcend trends. This book is therefore a visual homage to this complicity that has been much more than a simple professional matter. We could say that it is a journey of constant exploration.
‘Dialogue’ begins with an exchange of words between the two authors, who explore the similarities in their different approaches. Both share the same vision where the suspended moment and the capacity to surprise are two key elements. Artists who are never satisfied, who are always looking for something beyond. For them, fashion is much more than an aesthetic question: it is an art form that must not bow to the ephemeral.
