Spike Lee defends Stone Island’s Mussola Prismatica ‘Pietra’ jacket

The iconic brand founded by Massimo Osti continues to rewrite the rules with a delivery that transcends functionality to offer an aesthetic manifesto: the 4100065_MUSSOLA PRISMATICA ‘PIETRA’ jacket, whose details are revealed through the unmistakable Spike Lee.

In its now customary synergy between science, aesthetics and streetwear, Stone Island introduces us to the evolution of a textile that is already a cult object in its own right: the Mussola Prismatica, now interpreted through the ‘Pietra’ prism that celebrates the irregular and worn beauty of desert stone.

Constructed from an ultra-lightweight cotton muslin, fused with a transparent, glossy polyurethane film, this jacket redefines what we mean by ‘technical’. Waterproof, windproof, and with a texture that fluctuates between digital and organic, each piece is subjected to a resin bath and pigmented dye process that gives it a totally unique finish, where each jacket is different.

The result is a modular, transformable piece, designed to accompany the user in different urban situations. On the back, a system of removable pockets makes it possible to change the silhouette and mutate the purpose of the design.

Everything about this garment is calibrated to the millimetre: raglan sleeves, adjustable snaps, cotton mesh-lined ventilation panels and concealed fastenings keep the aesthetic clean and functional. The vertical cotton tape on the back acts as a visual and technical hub, while the Stone Island badge on the sleeve is a reminder of the piece’s identity.

That Spike Lee chose the MUSSOLA PRISMATICA ‘PIETRA’ is no coincidence. The New York director, an icon of style, finds in it a mirror of his own language: direct, technical and purposeful.
