Nike joins forces with Jacquemus to reinvent, for the first time, the legendary Moon Shoe, the model that Bill Bowerman created by hand in the early days of the brand.
The Moon Shoe has been almost legendary at Nike since its inception. Designed in 1972 by Bowerman, co-founder of the company, it was the first prototype with the famous waffle sole, designed to provide traction on athletic tracks. Only a dozen pairs were ever made, and one of them was auctioned decades later for millions. Its name comes from the footprints left by the sole, similar to those of astronauts on the moon.
The collaboration takes this sporting heritage and blends it with Jacquemus’ minimalist aesthetic, resulting in a silhouette that draws directly on the elegance of ballet without losing the running DNA that defines the original icon.
For now, this is just the first preview: a teaser that heralds the rebirth of a classic and promises more images and details in the coming days. Stay tuned!
