The BRAT era has not only reshaped Charli XCX’s pop present. It has also pushed her into a point of creative friction that now finds its way onto the big screen. A24 has unveiled the trailer for The Moment, a mockumentary directed by Aidan Zamiri in which the British artist plays — more or less — a version of herself at the precise moment when fame stops being a dream and starts to weigh heavy.
The film is set during the preparation for her first arena tour, a major career milestone that acts as the narrative trigger. From there, The Moment observes the noise surrounding a contemporary pop star: fans with impossible expectations, executives obsessed with numbers, managers armed with hollow motivational speeches and an industry that demands instant clarity when all that exists is doubt.
The trailer makes the project’s tone clear. It is uncomfortable, sharp and emotionally direct. Charli appears overwhelmed, caught between different versions of herself that refuse to align. The most intense moment comes with a raw outburst — “I don’t fcking know what I fcking want” — which captures the core of the film.
A very BRAT cast
The supporting cast reinforces that blend of satire and generational drama. Rosanna Arquette, Kate Berlant, Jamie Demetriou, Rachel Sennott and Alexander Skarsgård all appear, alongside a special cameo from Kylie Jenner. Her presence adds another layer to the reading of today’s celebrity ecosystem.
Beyond success
Rather than focusing on triumph, The Moment centres on the emotional cost of sustaining fame. Zamiri and Charli XCX build a story rooted in autofiction, questioning the classic pop narrative. There is no epic arc here. Only anxiety, contradiction and a present that moves far too fast. The Moment will arrive in cinemas on 30 January 2026.
