Nolan brings Travis Scott on board.

During the AFC Championship game on Sunday, 25 January, a new trailer for ‘The Odyssey‘, Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, was unveiled. In the brief preview, many viewers spotted Travis Scott in one scene, catching a large part of the audience off guard. The rapper is seen standing on a table addressing a group of soldiers, suggesting a role that goes beyond a simple visual cameo.

Reactions on social media were split between amazement, excitement and surprise, as the presence of Travis Scott in an epic film based on a classical poem was not something many people expected. The trailer aired during the televised game and quickly went viral, sparking discussion on platforms such as X and other social networks.

While it may seem unusual, Nolan has previously worked with musicians in several of his films. David Bowie appeared in ‘The Prestige‘, portraying inventor Nikola Tesla, and Harry Styles took on an acting role in ‘Dunkirk‘. In addition, Travis Scott had already collaborated with Nolan by creating the track “The Plan” for ‘Tenet‘ (2020), reinforcing the director’s tendency to bridge cinema and music.

The Odyssey‘ adapts Homer’s epic poem and features a star-studded cast including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson and Charlize Theron, among others. The film is scheduled for release on 17 July 2026.

Christopher Nolan also speaks about his concerns regarding films made exclusively for streaming platforms.
