Argentine Football and Skate Culture.
The countdown to the 2026 World Cup has already begun, and adidas Skateboarding has decided to celebrate it with one of those collaborations that transcend disciplines. The German brand joins forces with Thrasher and the Argentine Football Association (AFA) in a capsule collection that connects two seemingly distinct universes, yet share much more than meets the eye: creativity, neighborhood identity, and a unique way of understanding street culture. Additionally, the project serves as a tribute to Fausto Vitello, founder of Thrasher and born in Argentina, adding a personal dimension to the proposal.
The collection, comprising nine pieces including apparel and footwear, explores the link between South American football culture and the imagery of American skateboarding. Among the most notable releases is a football jersey inspired by the kit Argentina wore during the 1994 World Cup, a reference that gains special meaning considering that edition was also held in the United States. The result is a reinterpretation that blends sports nostalgia and contemporary sensibility.
In the footwear section, attention is focused on the new Glenburn by adidas Skateboarding, a silhouette that incorporates direct football influences without losing sight of the technical needs of skateboarding. Constructed from leather and suede, the shoe includes details designed to withstand daily wear and tear on the board, demonstrating how both disciplines can coexist in a single design. The collection is completed with hoodies, chino pants, graphic tees, and a reversible bucket hat that reinforce this constant dialogue between the stands and the skatepark.
Another highlight of the launch is the participation of Mark Gonzales, an absolute skate legend and one of the most iconic names on the adidas team, who contributes original illustrations for some of the garments. More than just a collaboration, this union between adidas Skateboarding, Thrasher, and the AFA reflects how sport, fashion, and urban culture continue to find new meeting points.
The collection will be available starting June 1, 2026, through a selection of specialized stores and the official adidas Skateboarding platform.
