This fall, adidas Originals and Alexander Wang continue their collaboration, and this makes four.
This season, inspiration comes from recontextualising, reorienting and elevating ideas and materials into a completely new collection. For Wang, this means editing the most essential garments, graphics and fabrics from previous collaboration seasons and merging them with iconic elements from the adidas archive.
Once again, imperfection, out-of-place seams and disoriented prints are the protagonists of part of the collection. These intentional “errors” function as a creative link between the before and after, the past and the present of the German house.
The collection is presented to us in three large groups: photocopy, disjoin, and AW essentials. The first one combines Wang’s logos with the emblematic adidas football shirts. The disjoin series combines rich velvet with jersey and nylon while playing with the adidas logo and brand. Finally, the AW essentials feature fundamental silhouettes created with mixed materials that refer to sports through iconic retro cut lines.

The sneakers have a great prominence again, especially – from our point of view – the AW Futureshell that we first saw at the SS19 Wang show.
The campaign for the fourth season stars Anna Ewers and was photographed by Brianna Capozzi. An imaginary halfway between the playful and the absurd, which maintains all the sense of Wang’s ingenuity and subversion.

Unlike previous seasons, this time, the Wang-adidas binomial is all about a one drop that will take place on November 14 in select stores and online stores of both brands.
