Alessandro Michele presents his latest campaign for Gucci’s Autumn/Winter 2019 season. Largely inspired by the history of ready-to-wear, the imagery highlights the reflections behind fashion, such as workshops, accessories, tests and much more. Thematically, the campaign speaks of the vivid imagination of Michele, who recreates four decades in the campaign: the ’50s, ’60s, ’70s and ’80s.
A resurgence of vintage trends: #GucciPrêtÀPorter
Filmed by Glen Luchford, the #GucciPrêtÀPorter campaign induces a nostalgia that calls for an era of past fashion. As the brand’s official press release says:
“In it, fashion in its ready-to-wear version once more makes the headlines, becomes the protagonist, as might have happened thirty years ago, when sensational headlines on covers were devoted to a must-have hemline, a seasonal colour, a fabric.”
In total, the imagery is an extended look into Michele’s extravagant FW19 presentation staged within the house’s Milan headquarters. Similar to the show, the shots point to the regurgitation of vintage trends still being relevant in the current landscape of the fashion market.
