All about the controversial Schiaparelli show

Schiaparelli opens Haute Couture Week with a controversial show starring Kylie Jenner, Doja Cat and various animals.

What a way to kick off Haute Couture Week! Schiaparelli’s shows never leave anyone indifferent, but this edition has certainly left a lot to talk about.

The moment we saw Kylie Jenner enter with a lion’s head sticking out of her black dress and Doja Cat get out of the car wrapped in 30,000 red crystals, we knew it was going to be a big show. The surprises continued as soon as the show started, when the models began to parade, including Irina Shayk (with the same look as Kylie) and Naomi Campbell, wrapped in an extravagant black coat that included the head of a wolf.

The collection, entitled INFERNO COUTURE and inspired by Dante’s Divine Comedy, reinterprets different animals through the technique of fake taxidermy. But despite the fact that these are fake skins, criticism began to rain down from animal rights defenders who consider that it is a validation of the use of these living beings as “trophies”. We are convinced that this was not Roseberry‘s aim…

The rest of the pieces, designed with oversized patterns and a neutral and elegant colour palette, went more unnoticed despite their wonderful tailoring. From evening gowns adorned with golden statues to double-breasted blazers with bare shoulders. Pure Schiaparelli.
