In addition to the Ferrari Enzo, Sotherby’s has also announced that Andy Warhol’s iconic 18-carat rose gold Patek Philippe is coming up for auction.
The Patek Philippe watch brand could be considered the favourite of Jay-Z, Brendan Fraser or The Weeknd. It was also a favourite of the late artist Andy Warhol, who owned an 18-carat rose gold model. Through Sotherby‘s auction house, you can now get your hands on this iconic silhouette.
The piece consists of a 36 mm case in 18-carat rose gold – dated 1955 – and a first-series enamelled dial. In fact, enamelled dials are nowadays only used for special launches, due to the delicate and expensive material and production.
The cream beige enamel dial -eggshell- bears the signature of Serpico Y Laino, as a reference to the history of this company that was the exclusive distributor of Patek Philippe in Venezuela. It has a brown leather strap and incorporates the legendary self-winding calibre 12’600.
This is the second time the watch has been sold to the public through the American house; the first was part of the Andy Warhol Collection Part II auction held in 1988, which included a number of the late artist’s personal items, from collectibles and furniture to paintings and jewellery.
