Art Basel Miami 2022: the biggest edition to date

Art Basel Miami 2022 will celebrate its 20th edition with a record number of galleries: 283. The event will take place from 1 to 3 December at the Miami Beach Convention Center, and will be the largest edition to date.

The fair will take place from 1 to 3 December at its usual venue, the Miami Beach Convention Center, with galleries from 39 countries and territories, including 26 participants present for the first time at this event around which the so-called Miami Art Week revolves.

The global director of Art Basel, Marc Spiegler, emphasised that the Miami Beach edition “has reinforced its position as the region’s leading art fair (uniting the art scenes of North and South America, Europe and beyond)”, as well as driving “the city’s profound cultural transformation”.

Galleries, the main section of the fair, will bring together a total of 213 galleries from all over the world, some of which return after the suspension of the 2020 edition. Solo shows by new artists will once again be concentrated in the Positions section, which this year will showcase the work of 19 artists.

Through the French gallery Mitterrand, Cuban artist Agustín Cárdenas will present “unusual” sculptures in wood, marble and bronze, as well as works on paper, within the Survey section, which specialises in works created before 2000 and which this year will host 17 galleries, according to Art Basel Miami Beach.

The organisation said that in the coming weeks it will offer details about its new section Meridians, which will include large-scale sculptures and installations, as well as videos and performances. Don’t miss this event as the city is transformed into an ephemeral canvas full of artistic events.
