Gathered at the Forza e Coraggio Sports Stadium in Milan, we discovered in a rather peculiar way the latest AVAVAV collection, as ironic and fun as ever. The brand founded in Florence and known for its ironic and avant-garde approach broke expectations and blurred the boundaries between traditional fashion and streetwear hand in hand with adidas Originals. Nothing less than a display of irreverent creativity, where the pieces stood out for their exaggerated proportions, their rebellious touches of humour and their critique of ‘operation bikini’ every year. The oversized silhouettes, together with chunky trainers and reformulated sportswear, created a visual effect that oscillated between the absurd and the functional, something that AVAVAV has mastered to perfection.
Models stumbled, lost shoes along the way and even vomited in the middle of a race that left much to be desired and left them far short of a personal best. But that was not the point of this peculiar sporting event.
