If there’s one thing Balenciaga always manages to do, it’s generate debate every time it launches a new collection. Now, the Demna Gvasalia-led maison is back with another divisive creation: the waterproof Excavator boot.
Departing slightly from Balenciaga‘s usual square toe, the Excavator arrives with a tapered toe yet retains the brand’s signature streamlined nature. Its extra-wide shaft protrudes at the knee, creating a wide-open space for rain to pool.
Balenciaga is adept at the art of provoking strong reactions, especially when it comes to its footwear. The collaboration with Crocs was hated by many while others hailed it as masterful. Another media shoe was Balenciaga’s Hardcrocs, a clog with a huge platform heel.
Loved or hated, waterproof or waterproof, the “Excavator” is a talking point that will win you as many admirers as detractors.
Now why not take a look at Balenciaga’s latest collaboration with Acid Arab?
