The Beyoncé renaissance era seems to go on forever. That it’s based on a kind of eternity that keeps evolving through new acts, projects and iconic tracks. Now the artist is continuing that transformation by heading west to star in her own rodeo and releasing two country-themed songs titled “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages“.
The news would be revealed during Super Bowl LVIII, capturing the public’s attention from the moment her ad for Verizon on how to ‘break the internet’ was screened, generating endless anticipation for her fandom, which would continue with a big surprise: the announcement of her new studio album.
It’s the singer’s eighth studio album, Act II, which she unveiled via her Instagram profile, @beyonce, previewing two new songs in a clip in which she is heard saying: ‘I told you the Renaissance wasn’t over’.
Shortly after, two songs surfaced on streaming platforms, first on Tidal before the official visuals appeared on YouTube. First “Texas Hold ‘Em“, which references poker and his home state, to drop a second song that morphs from country to an orchestral arrangement, titled “16 Carriages“.
Unlike previous projects, in which she released intricate films and music videos, “Renaissance” arrives without visuals, an unexpected twist to Beyoncé‘s powerful storytelling.
